Friends, Birthdays and the Loaded Hog

Last night Sara and I went out to some good friends Birthday.

They are a married couple whose birthdays are close together. They used to hang out at the Loaded Hog in Auckland, so decided that this would be a good place to celebrate their combined birthdays.

Sara and I enjoyed the evening, meeting some new people and catch up with people we know, and if you ever want a good evening out, I strongly suggest you DON'T go the the Loaded Hog. We enjoyed ourselves DESPITE the Loaded Hog.

When we arrived, we discovered that the booking our friends had made was never recorded, so the manager knew nothing about it, and then tables the where meant to be reserved were already taken. The Loaded Hog offered some free drinks to compensate for their mistake, which was a good thing to do. While one of my friends was working this out with the Manager, she was informed by the Manager, "I don't want to be here either you know!"

My wife went to the Ladies and it was a mess, so she complained to the staff, who responded by giving her a roll-of-the-eyes and the impression nothing was going to be done about the condition of the toilets.

We then sat down, but move soon after because it was to cold where we were, which was right under the air con.

After we re-located to a better position, we placed orders. Because of the nature of the evening, we didn't arrive in one group, but guests arrived during the evening. Of the 8 or so main meals that where ordered:

- 2 fish dishes where sent back because they were under cooked (EG: raw).

- 1 order wasn't recorded, and thus was missed

- 1 order ask for no tomatoes due to allergy reasons, and there were tomato's when the meal arrived

2 friends arrived, and informed the waiter they were planning to only have desert, and when they came to order their desert 30 mins or so later, they were informed that the Loaded hog didn't do deserts... which is fine they don't do them, but I would have thought the waiter would have known that 30 mins earlier when he was informed they were intending to only have desert...

In the end, after everyone had finished eating (the ones of us who got food) we re-located to another restaurant for desert (and mains for those who still hadn't eaten!)

At this point, Sara (who is 9 months pregnant) and I went home. This was 10pm in the evening!

So, as I said before, we enjoyed the evening very much because of the people we were celebrating the birthday's with, but have little intention of ever going to the Loaded Hog again, and will happily recommend that people don't go there!

New computer, boxing and Carrots

Well, I havn't said much for a while, so thought I should say something!

New Computer: I ordered a new computer the other week, and it arrives in about a week! It's a Dell, 2.8 Duo Core, 2GB Ram, 160GB HD, 20inch LCD. It's the first REAL computer I have ever bought, with all my other computer being either 2nd hand or low spec...

Boxing: I went to my first live boxing match on Friday. It's a sport for nutters! I can't say I understand it. There I was with all my work mate eating a nice dinner while to people would be hitting each other. It was corporate boxing, which means they boxers had little boxing experience. My boss was the first one in the ring (hence the reason I was there!) and he survived the 3 rounds with only a blood nose. I could say I enjoyed the evening with out having to strech the truth, but I just can't get in to watching some need medical attention be because he has just been knocked out in a sport that is only about knocking out...

Carrots: I think I planted to many...I planted 4 rows, which takes up about half my raised garden. I think I should have only planted 2, and left more room for other plants. Oh well, we learn as we do!

All is quiet on the western front

Bit of a quick on this one...

All quiet in West Auckland.

Sara is growing, Joshua is growing, and hopefully the carrots will start growing...

I'm off to Las Vagas and Detroit next week. I'm looking forward to the trip. Hopefully I'll get a look at the Grand Canyon while I am there, but not looking forward to being away from Sara and Josh...

I'll attempt to post some entries while I am there... it I'm not to busy in the Casinos!

so, how about that weather...

I've often said the weather changes so we have something to talk about...

...here is one of the more extreme examples of that:

The photo is just from just round the corner from us, and we drove past the address today to have a look.

There were 2 houses with tarpaulins on, a small tree broken off and stuff all over the road.

...so, how about that weather then!

More Videos

I uploaded these videos a while ago, so thought I would share it now!

I finally got round from changing the look of this Blog. The look before this one was the look and feel that came default with the blog...

I got this one from http://openwebdesign.org/, so thank you Arcsin (Their link is at the bottom of the page)

...now just to get Sara to start bloging!

I've heard a lot of these facts before, but this is a nice presentation of them...
